About us

stablished in 1992 by John and Jenny Turnbull, Casual and Country
is a furniture and homewares store, known for its contemporary designs and use of colour. Over the years the store steadily expanded into neighbouring buildings, the café opened in 2000, eventually Casual and Country occupied the entire site by 2010. Then came EQ2.

Due to this calamity our old building has to be demolished. We don’t know yet the timeframe for this to happen, but we already have exciting plans for a new complex of buildings on our property.

HOLIDAY HOME

Our signature look is now showing in our temporary ‘holiday home’ in Ferrymead. Our store/Holiday home is located in Ferrymead, Christchurch, close to the seaside suburbs, and the hub of a dynamic and growing retail area.

The store is dedicated to giving you furniture and accessories with clean lines, simplicity of design and more personal choices. Simple forms are more attractive and practical, and fit with today’s expressions of individuality in contemporary homes.
Casual and Country is the only South Island stockist of the complete range of Designers Guild products which includes fabrics and wallpapers for children and adults, from the English design house of Tricia Guild. Designers Guild textiles have colour, vibrancy and a unique quirkiness.

Casual and Country’s services include interior design. Our staff are passionate about their work, and knowledgeable about the products available. In-store or in-home consultations are available for curtains, blinds, furniture, and accessories.

Visit us at Casual and Country. Our range is more extensive than we can show, and constantly changing.

 QUAKE CAFE
1027 Ferry Road
Ph: 027 44 55 775

“Wow, what a great idea! Always busy, and with a life of its own, our cafe has a reputation for superb coffee and appetizing food, all made on the premises, fresh every day.”

… This is how it started. It’s still the same, but with a little twist since EQ2: temporarily we’re open and meeting your need for good coffee out of a cosy shed. Our skilled and happy team will serve your latte or cappuccino made with freshly roasted and ground L’Affare beans; or how about one of our legendary date scones that people cross town for. We also offer breakfast to order, have a new mini lunch menu to eat in at our maxi shed at one of our 4 tables, or sit outside in the sun in the carpark among a few new hills.

If there’s no room, or you’re on your way out, grab a takeaway. Text us on 027 44 55 775 and we’ll have your order piping hot and waiting.
